About Us

Hundreds of Ottawa Region children have chosen to develop their dance skills at The Studio School of Dance since we opened our doors in September of 1992.

Recreational, Competitive programs

Children are offered Recreational and Competitive dance lessons suited to their ages, commitment and talent levels. Class sizes are limited. Each child receives ample encouragement and attention.

Qualified professional staff

Dancers learn from caring, qualified teachers and assistants. All staff are professionally certified through A.D.A.P.T., CDTA or The Society of Russian Ballet, and all must successfully complete a Studio teaching program that includes St. John Ambulance training.

Generous, comfortable studios

Children rehearse in air-conditioned, mirrored studios that measure 400 sq. ft., 900 sq. ft., 1,300 sq. ft. and 1,400 sq. ft., and have 18-foot ceilings. The 4 large studios have sprung hardwood floors to protect dancers’ feet and legs.

Accessible, city-wide

The Studio’s south-central Ottawa location is easy to reach. It features abundant parking, a comfortable parents’ waiting area and a staffed front desk with adjacent offices.

Dress code

Studio dancers adhere to a dress code that reflects the requirements of each dance discipline. Dance attire is available from several local retailers.

The Chance 2 Dance Foundation

The Studio supports Canadian Foundation The Chance 2 Dance which offers underprivileged children the opportunity to dance. This organization offers classes and scholarships for children.

House lights to half

Studio dancers showcase their skills in the Summer Strut, Competitive Showcase and ballet recital, in June. Company dancers also perform in competitions leading to nationals in Canada or the United States. Training in The Company can lead to a professional dance career.

“My daughter began dancing with The Studio School of Dance in 2001 when she was 3 years old. It began as ‘just an activity’ and has grown into a passion and love for dance way beyond my expectations. This is because of the amazing teachers who have not only given her great dance instruction but have shown her the true meaning of self-importance.

“Whatever brought us to The Studio, it is the exceptional teachers and the warm and positive atmosphere that keep us here. I have a deep appreciation for The Studio School of Dance and the positive impact it has had on my family. Thank you!”
